The formation of a new section for
civil rights law was approved by the WSBA Board of Governors in early December
2008.
The Civil Rights Law Section is
concerned with all aspects of law and policy related to the improvement of the
legal practice in the substantive area of civil rights law, which includes, but
is not limited to, violations of rights provided under the constitutions of
United States and Washington state, under federal and state statutes, local laws
and regulations; criminal harassment, hate crimes; and immigration matters.
Among other priorities benefiting
its members, the section sponsors continuing legal education on civil rights law
and provides a network for communications with civil rights organizations
throughout the state.
For more information on the benefits of section membership, see the
Civil Rights Law Section website.
