Hon. Stephanie A. Arend
  Pierce Co. Superior Court

Stephanie A. Arend was appointed to Pierce County Superior Court in 1999. Prior to becoming a trial judge, she was a partner with Gordon, Thomas, Honeywell, Malanca, Peterson & Daheim, PLLC. Judge Arend currently is the Presiding Family Court Judge. She previously served as Presiding Judge for 2005 and 2006 and as the Criminal Presiding Judge for the years 2003 and 2004. She has served on numerous Superior Court Committees, including the Executive Committee, Local Rules Committee, Strategic Planning Committee and Personnel Policy Manual Committee.

Judge Arend is the chair of the Presiding Judge Education Committee for the trial courts in the State of Washington. She also serves as the Pierce/Thurston District Convener for the yearly YMCA Mock Trial Competition. She is a Bencher in the Honorable Robert J. Bryan chapter of the American Inns of Court. Judge Arend also organizes members of her bench to participate in many community activities, including painting the homes of low income senior citizens through the Paint Tacoma/Pierce County Beautiful Project.

JudgeArend received her J.D. from the University of Puget Sound School of Law in Tacoma, WA and her B.A. from Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI.
