The preadmission course and the admissions process, generally

  1. Can I attend the live program or complete the video course before I am eligible for admission?

No. Completing the course before you receive notification that you have passed the exam or that you qualify for admission through reciprocity is premature. If you certify completion before you are eligible for admission, it will not count.

  2. Can I attend the live program or watch the video and get MCLE credit?

No. This course satisfies only the preadmission education requirement for admission to practice law in Washington. MCLE credits are not available for this course.

  3. Do I have to take this course if I took a similar class, in another state?

Yes. APR 5 requires that all admittees to the Washington bar take the course prior to admission.

  4. I have made arrangements through the office of admissions to take the oath of attorney. Do I need to take the New Lawyer Education Course before then?
No. APR 5 does not specify in what order to complete the admission requirements.

  5. When can I expect to be admitted?

    Contact
admissions@wsba.org for any follow-up questions about the admissions process.

http://www.wsbacle.org/nle. You do not need to register to watch the video series.

  2. What information do I need in order to register?

The online video course

  1. What is the format of the online course?

The online course is a series of six downloadable videos. There is a downloadable coursebook in PDF format.

  2. Do I have to watch the online video in a single session?

No. You may watch the video in several sittings. It is easy to fast-forward to where you left off. However, when you access the video at subsequent sittings, the video will not automatically remember where you left off, so it is important that you note the spot where you left off.

  3. For the online course, is it okay to just read the coursebook (PDF version)?

No. Simply downloading, reading, or printing the "New Lawyer Education" coursebook does not satisfy the course requirement. You must watch the six part video series online. The coursebook augments the lectures, but is not a substitute.

  4. Does the WSBA track my viewing of the video course?

No, the WSBA does not track your viewing. Applicants are responsible for watching the entire video series and for confirming that they watched it via online verification. Admissions will not continue to process your application unless you confirm that you watched the video series. By confirming viewing, you certify under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Washington that you have watched all segments of the New Lawyer Education Program.

  2. I have been unable to get the online video to work on my computer.

In order to view the New Lawyer Education video series you will need to have installed on your computer Windows Media Player or a similar media player.
You can download Windows Media Player here. Mac users can view Windows Media Player files by downloading Flip4MacTM (free) here.

  3. I am not allowed to download anything on my work computer. What should I do?

In order to view the New Lawyer Education video series you will need to be able to download files to your computer. If your work place does not allow this, you may need to view the video from another location.
